The way to Attain a Dryer Drum Roller

Drum rollers on electric and gas dryers support the drum while it rotates by means of a belt. When rollers become worn or damaged, the drum may make beating noises or the clothing will come out with dark smudges. Replacing the rollers requires removing certain external and internal parts of the drier. Because of this, the task requires mechanical expertise and also the repair manual for your specific drier. Get the rollers and guide through an appliance outlet or online source dependent on the model and brand of drier.

Unplug the power cord to your drier from the electrical outlet. For a gas drier, shut off the gas supply valve and also detach the end of the flex line from the valve.

Ask an assistant to help transfer the dryer away from the wall, as necessary, to detach the end of the port tube at the back of the drier. Move the drier, as necessary, to access the panel at the back and sides.

Eliminate the side and back panels utilizing the appropriate tools to loosen the pan-head screws or hex-head screws which hold the bits in place. Preserve the parts and fasteners for re-installation.

Find the rollers at the bottom of the drier drum at each side. Eliminate any components as needed to fully access the rollers.

Install wood shims in the gap between the lower part of the drum and the inner frame or panel member to prevent the drum from lowering when the rollers are removed.

Loosen and remove the nuts at the end of each roller beam, and conserve the nuts. Pull each roller off its beam. Install a new roller on each shaft. Secure each using the nuts that are saved.

Reassemble the drier. Install any parts or components which were removed to access the rollers. Reattach the back and side panels using the saved pan-head screws or hex-head bolts. The drier is about to be moved into position so the port tube can be reattached and the flexible gas line reconnected at the valve. Turn on the valve and plug in the power cord.
