The way to Prevent a Rocking Chair From Scratching the Floor

Wood floors are easy to maintain. You can simply sweep the ground with a broom and gently dust mop to capture any remnants of dirt the broom left behind. Sometimes, you may need to clean the surface of the ground with wood floor cleaner, and a wood floor with a wax finish may require waxing one or two times annually to remain beautiful. However, the wood may get marred and scratched from the own furniture, as well as your rocking chair might damage the finish. Applying felt to the rocker bottoms can stop your seat from scratching the ground.

Turn the rocking chair above to expose the bottoms of their rockers. Wipe the dust and dirt from the rockers using an old rag.

Spray a clean cloth with a multipurpose wood cleaner. Wipe the surface of the rockers with the cloth. Allow the rockers to dry.

Sand the bottoms of the rockers using 320-grit wet/dry seams to slightly roughen the surface. Scrub the rockers with tack cloth to remove any sanding residue.

Assess the length of the rockers. Cut two lengths of self-adhesive felt strips to equal the measurements.

Peel the paper backing from the adhesive side of the felt strips. Center the felt strips above the bottoms of their rockers. Line up the ends of the felt strips using the ends of their rockers. Carefully use the felt strips to the rockers.

Apply pressure to the felt strips to stick them to the bottoms of their rockers. Make sure the ends and the edges of the felt strips are secured. Turn the rocker back above.
